Jeep SUVs vs Ford and Honda SUVs Tustin

Iconic and Reliable: The Jeep Brand Excels Over Ford and Honda

These days, Hollywood blockbusters tend to feature the Jeep brand quite prominently. A Jeep model is almost always the go-to SUV on the big screen, especially where off-road (or otherwise rough terrain) driving is featured.

However, when it comes to the right SUV for your needs, you're not looking for cinematic flair. You want a more practical and efficient car with just the right mix of safety and convenience. Luckily for you, the Jeep brand combines all of those and more into their SUVs. But, let's show you the full range of the Jeep brand's capabilities by seeing where it stacks up against two other leading competitors: Ford and Honda.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee vs The Ford Explorer

  • The Jeep Grand Cherokee has a lower MSRP, starting out at $30,695. The Ford Explorer has a starting price of $32,140.
  • The Grand Cherokee SUV has higher base fuel efficiency, at 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon highway over the 17 miles per gallon city and 22 miles per gallon of the Explorer.
  • In addition to having more fuel efficiency, the Grand Cherokee SUV has ECO Mode standard on the driveline for all trims and a 24.6 fuel tank capacity. The Explorer has an 18.6 fuel tank capacity and the EcoBoost engine has to be upgraded.
  • The Grand Cherokee is able to tow up to 7,400 pounds whereas the Ford Explorer can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

The Jeep Renegade vs The Ford Escape

  • All trims of the Jeep Renegade come with the option of a retractable sun/moon roof which is unavailable on the base trims of the Ford Escape and has to be upgraded.
  • Despite being the larger of the two SUVs, in both length and width, the Ford Escape has a bit less headroom with 39.9 inches of front head room and 38 inches of second row headroom. The Jeep Renegade, without the sunroof, has 41.1 inches of front head room and 41 inches of second row head room.
  • The Jeep Renegade also has a higher fuel efficiency, gaining up to 24 miles per gallon city and 31 miles per gallon highway. The Ford Escape gains up to 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway. The Jeep Renegade also weighs 3,056 pounds, which is 486 pounds less than the Ford Escape, and helps save fuel in the long run.

The Jeep Wrangler vs The Honda CR-V

  • The Jeep Wrangler comes standard with a convertible soft roof and the option for a convertible hard roof. The Honda CR-V features neither of these and the power moonroof on it comes standard on trims above the CR-V EX.
  • The Wrangler SUV  has a bit more to offer where towing capabilities are concerned; it can tow up to 3,500 pounds and each trim has the option of customizing this SUV with a trailer hitch receiver. The Honda CR-V has no trailer hitch available and can only tow up to 1,500 pounds.
  • All trims of the Jeep Wrangler come with the option for SiriusXM Satellite Radio which is completely unavailable on the base model of the Honda CR-V.
  • The Wrangler comes standard with tinted privacy glass on the windows, which is unavailable on the Honda CR-V

The Jeep Cherokee vs The Honda HR-V

  • The Engine of the Jeep Cherokee is capable of 184 horsepower and generates 171 pound-feet of torque. The Honda HR-V gains up to 141 horsepower, on its base engine, and generates 127 pound-feet of torque.
  • The Cherokee SUV comes standard with rear seat side airbags which are unavailable on the Honda HR-V.
  • The Cherokee SUV comes with the option to add front heated seats, which is unavailable on the base trim of the Honda HR-V (the HR-V LX) and has to be upgraded.
  • The Cherokee has a higher passenger volume overall at 105.4 cubic feet. The Honda HR-V has about 100.1 cubic feet of passenger volume.
